Polar Connect: Opportunities for a long-term Arctic Observatory

Join an exciting webinar on Monday, 7 October 2024 from 14:00-16:00 CEST to explore science opportunities with Polar Connect.

The Polar Connect initiative aims to establish a submarine cable system between Northern Europe and East Asia, equipped with environmental sensing technology. You can find more details in the Polar Connect Vision 2030.

This system will provide unprecedented data from the Arctic deep ocean, contributing to novel research infrastructure. Aligned with the goals of the SMART Cables project, it will further enhance global environmental monitoring.

The event is co-organized with the Swedish Research Council (VR) and NORDUnet, under the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF Digital) funded project 22-EU-DIG-NPF North Pole Fiber. The webinar will discuss scientific data collection along the cable route, particularly focusing on the seas between the Nordics and Svalbard.
